Stonington has a reputation for being the place to go for seafood and boat excursions of every kind but in more recent decades has also become one of the Maine coast’s premier gallery centers. Several nationally known artists and artisans work in Stonington as well many others of more local renown. It’s a great way to spend a day! Many galleries and studios are located in downtown Stonington or a short walk from downtown. Driving around to the galleries and artisans around town is a fun way to explore the town.
